CHARGE OF MURDER.

DEATH AT A MENTAL HOSPITAL. CHRISTCHURCH, Jniy 26. Joseph Martin Chapman, a warder at tlio Sunnysido Mental Hospital, 36 years of age, was arrested to-day on a charge of having murdered Chatles Thomas M'Meekan, an inmate of the iiv-titution. M‘Meekan was married, and was *l2 years of age. Ho diet I on July 9, and in the ordinary course an inquest was held at Sunnyside before Mr Bailey, who returned a verdict that death was due to hcvniorrhago of the lungs. It is slated, however that, the circumstances connected with M'Meckart’s death were such that the authorities caused further investigations to bo made.
