OTAGO CRICKET LEAGUE. Steps are being taken to form a league amongst Saturday clubs (various trades, etc.) not associated with the Cricket Association for the season 1913-14, and a meeting is to be held at an early date to consider the question. A circular has been prepared setting out the advantages to be gained from such a league, these being stated as follows; —(1) Combination is strength; (2) a set programme of matches for the season; (3) competitions for trophies, etc.; (4) protection of clubs by the league; (5) bettor playing-ground arrangements: (6) a better stylo of play and considerable more interest shown by the players and supporters. It is proposed that the patrons, president, and vice-presi-dents be selected from the most prominent citizens of the city. THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. SYDNEY, .Inly 26. Besides the three principal in niches—against New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland —arrangements are being made with the country centres of the various States to meet the visiting New Zealand cricket team. ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP. LONDON, July 22. Gloucester beat Yorkshire at Shefiield by 2 runs. Jcssop scored 67 and 40, and he also bowled four men and caught two in Yorkshire’s first innings. July 24. Middlesex were dismissed by Kent at Maidstone for 55 and 86 v Blythe took five wickets for 17 runs, and six for 48. Kent’s first innings yielded 79, J. T. Hcarne securing six wickets for 21. July 25. Kent defeated Middlesex by seven wickets. This victory is likely to secure for Kent the County Championship. THE AUSTRALIANS’ TOUR. NEW YORK, July 24. The Australians won a two days’ match against an All Bermuda eleven at Hamilton. The Australians made 439 runs, and Bermuda 146 in the first innings and 179 in the second. July 26. The Australian cricketers defeated a picked team of coloured players in Ber-

muda. The Australians made 345 runs (Collins 128) and the Bermudans 223.
