The Milburn Lime and Cement Company has disposed of the whole of its plant at the Burnside works to the Adelaide Cement Company, and has besides acquired an interest in that company. Last year tire importation of cement into South Australia was very large, and as there is an abundance of raw material easily accessible the new venture promises to be a good one. A site of eight acres has been acquired adjacent to the Port of Adelaide, with railwayfacilities and water facilities, and it is hoped that at an early date the whole of the requirements will bo met locally. The foundation work and buildings are being proceeded with, at id it is expected that within six months the works will be in operation. The present plant is only intended for the purpose of demonstrating the suitability of the materials, and after this has been done more extensive and up-to-date machinery will be installed. Full and complete physical and chemical tests have been made of the raw material, which lies very convenient, so that it can be worked economically, and everything shows beyond the shadow of a doubt that the prospects are sound. Most of the Burnside plant has already been shipped, and the remainder will be forwarded this week.
