OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL BOYS’ JUBILEE, 1863-1913.

PRELIMINARY OUTLINE OF THE PROCEEDINGS. An executive meeting was held on Tuesday evening in Mr E. S. Wilson’s board room. Present: Ur Fulton (chairman), Messrs W. J. Morrell (rector), A. A. Finch, J. A. Park, J. N. Ritchie, C. G. White, K. S. Ramsay, F. Calvert, W. J. Guthrie, and D. J. Cald-er. His Worship the Mayor attended by invitation. The following duces of the, school have notified their intention to be present; Mr Noel Buchanan (first dux), Hon. H. D. Bell, Mr A. J. Park, Mr S. Solomon, K.C., Rev. A. Bruce Tood, Mr C. R. Montgomery, Dr R. A. Lindsay, Dr J. B. Thomson, Mr J. A. Scott, Dr John Somrnerville, Mr C. M. Littlejohn, Dr W. A. Fleming. Dr W. Newlands, and Mr J. O'Shea. The convener of the Sports Committee reported that all matters were forward for the sports on Saturday, August 2, at the Caledonian Grounds. The 4th Regimental Band is specially engaged for the afternoon. A seven a-side football match by the Present Boys and seven short football matches by the Old Boys will be played, Afternoon tea and refreshments may be obtained . Members’ 5s cards and schoolboys’ Is cards admit to the grounds. The sports will be open to the general public—the only function that is open to the public. All arrangements are in the hands of Mr F. H. Campbell, the Lady Principal of the Girls’ High School, and a committee of High School girls. The convener of the Dinner Committee reported that provision had been made for 300 members, and recommended that the Dunedin list of members be closed, leaving open a few seats for country members who have not replied. AH members to assemble at the Art Gallery at 6.45 p.m. on 'Saturday, August 2, and the dinner to start at 7 p.m. A high-class dinner is being provided, also a special programme of short speeches, music, etc. The -convener of the Procession Committee reported that the programme for the procession of past and present High School boys was completed, marshals apnointed, and banners ordered. The 4th Regimental Band will l)e in attendance, and will lead the procession. AU High School boys, past and present, are to parade at the Girls’ High School (the site of the Old Boys’ High Cchool) at 2 p.m. sharp on Sunday, August 3. to he marshalled in decades of 10 years. The whole body will march off as soon after 2 o’clock as possible, arriving in Princes street from owling street ; thence to tjie Octagon, Stuart street, Albert street, London street, to the Boys’ High School grounds, when the chapel service and programme arranged will he carried out. The convener of the Historical Committee reported that all arrangements had been made for the meeting on Monday morning at the High School. The convener of the Reception and Garden Party Committee reported that arrangements had been completed for ihe entertainments at the school and school grounds. The entertaining arrangements are in the hands of Miss Stewart (the Mayoress) and a committee of ladies. It is expected that fully 1500 parents, relatives, and past and present boys will he present. Cards for this function must he obtained‘by parents and relatives from Mr E. S. Wilson, secretary, as it was found impossible to reach all parents and ho vs by invitation. Members’ £1 Is, ss, and Is cards also entitle to admission. The smoke concert and social for all past High School bovs will take place at the Art Gallery on Monday, August 4, at 8 p.m. Fully 300 are expected, and a good programme has been prepared. Several important speeches will be given. Dr Fulton and Mr C. J. Calder were appointed to confer with the rector with regard to a present hoys’ concert on ho same evening in the Early Settlers’ Hall. His Worship the Mayor has accepted rhe invitation to unveil tile memorials at the school.
