WEST COAST AND REFORM.

THE POLITICAL OUTLOOK. (Faoii Our Own Con res ton dent. ) HOKITIKA. Julv 23. The victory at Grey has fairly intoxicated the members and officials of the Federation of Labour, and the narrow confines of the Grey electorate will not be able to hold them'. Indeed, they have eye:; on Westland already, and Professor Mills ie mentioned as a probable Federation of Labour candidate for the Westland seat. He is advertised to speak at an early date. A triangular contest in Westland next election seems inevitable. What is left of so-called Liberalism got a big shock at Grey, and all the Opposition papers are feverishly anxi"us for the formation of Liberal leagues, eic. i he Grey

electorate is not the place whore the Reform cause is making good progress. Westland has its sturdy branch of the Reform League and Government newspaper and is really the home of the Reform movement on the West Coast, 'there is a very strong probability of the seat going to the Government at the next polls. The moral victory in Grey lias given a great impetus to the movement, and everything is looking very rosy for Reform in Westland ; and, indeed, throughout the whole of the West Coast.
