JAPANESE SCHOONER SEIZED
SYDNEY. July 17. Advices from tlie Solomon Islands state that suspicions were aroused over the sudden appearance of a Japanese schooner named Adele. The captain, when questioned as to the object of his visit, replied “Wo continue to look.’’ The matter was reported to Mr Woodford, the British Commissioner, who found the Adele at Utopia, and had her seized and towed to Tulgai, where the captain was ordered to pay £3OO for engaging in the collection of native shell without a license. As the money was not forthcoming the schooner was confiscated. The captain is coming to Sydney to consult the Japanese Consul.
