GENTLEMEN v. PLAYERS. LONDON, July 14. I» the second match Gentlemen versus Players, which is being played at Lord’s, the former in their first innings scored 232 —S. Smith 65, Jessop 63. July 16. The second match between the Gentlemen and Players was continued at Lord’s on a wet wicket. The Players scored 210. The Gentlemen in their second innings were disposed of for 102, Barnes securing seven wickets for 38 runs. The Players in their second innings made 126 for the loss of three wickets, Hobbs (not out) 72. ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP. LONDON, July 17. Yorkshire in their first innings against Kent scored 100. Blythe took five wickets for 30 and Woolley four for 40. July 18. Kent made 135 rims in their first in-, rings. Rhodes took five wickets for 42. July 19. Playing against Gloucestershire, who made 254 runs, Nottingham declared their innings closed with 530 runs for nine wickets. George Gunn made 167 runs. LONDON, July 21. The match between Kent and Yorkshire was drawn, rain necessitating the abandonment of play.
