CONTRIBUTION OVERDONE.

TWO MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, January 13. The folly of saying a little too much was exemplified at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. A man named Edward Donaldson, against whom several previous convictions were recorded, was charged with using obscene language in the public street at an early hour on Sunday morning. Donaldson admitted the offence, and said that he had had some drink and there had been an argument. He expressed regret, and in a fit of exuberant contrition said: “ I will ask to have a prohibition order granted against myself.” “Do you want it now?” asked Mr Hutchison, S.M. “ Yes,” replied the accused. “Very well, order granted,” said his Worship, and the order was made, but he went on: ‘‘The offence is one that I cannot overlook. You are sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.”
