PENINSULA SHOW.

A large number of Dunedin people and residents from surrounding districts took advantage of the fine weather on Saturday and attended tho Otago Penisula A. and P. Society’s 35th annual show, which was held on the show ground at Portobelio. The show was in keeping with previous shows hold by the society, the exhibits comprising the beet horses and cattle owned on the Peninsula. The horse section was perhaps the largest, and cattle came next. In the first-mentioned there were more light horses that draughts, and some large rings faced the judges. Clydesdale - ’ entries woreconspicuous by their alisence, and the quality of tho mares and geldings was not very high, the be?t horses being those exhibited by Mr Martin Gary. The backs were moderately good. In fact, when it is taken into consideration that those shown are not kept exclusively for show purposes but for general use by their owners, they must be Considered good. As far as the cattle section was concerned Weir Bros, practically scooped the pool in the Ayrshire classes, Mr F. E. Hcllyer the Jerseys, and in Holsteina the latter breeder divided tho prizes allotted with Mr W. Townlcy, Mr A. Clark, jun., J. Clearwater, and A. Morris. The exhibits of domestic produce were limited in number, but good in quality, which also applies to the exhibits of dogs. Tho competitions arranged wore keenly contested and provided the large attendance of tho public with excellent amusement. The officials all worked well, and the judging was done with very little delay. Following are the results: —
