GREEN ISLAND IIANI> CONfERT. A concert was given in tho Green Island Public Hall on, tho 14th in aid of the funds of the Green Island Band, act! for two very good reason* -the excellence of the entertainment that was olfcred and the worthiness of tho object—tho hall waa crowded. As a'result of the concert the funds of the band should benefit to a very considerable extent. With the exception of one selection by the Green Island Band, the programme was entirely in the hands of performers of some repute from Dunedin. Mrs B, H. Power sang "Lovely spring " and " Anguy Mecdonald "; Miss Bathie H. Stuart gave twe humorous items —"Cateh me" and "Not at home": Mm Helen Gard'ner sang " Hie valley of laughter," and, with Mr Colin Gray, the duet from "II Trovatore "; while Mr Grav rendered "My memories," •' To. Mary, 1 ' and the duet " The moon has raised" with Mr Noel Smith, who also sang "The) sergeant of the line" end " The trumpeter.** Very much appreciated were the elocutionary items by Mr S. H. Osborn. which in. eluded "The Dandy Fifth." A quarto* from the Kaifcorai Band, under Conductor Ladlaw, save an instrumental quartet, and Miss Lizzie M'Laren, who acted as acoonv panist, gave a pianoforte selection.
