SATURDAY'S MEET.

The Otago Hunt met at Vauxhall on Saturday afternoon, when there was a very large muster of members and spectators. Fully 100 were mounted, with about a quarter of the number equestriennes, and the cavalcade made quite an interesting sight as it wended its way from the rendezvous to the scene of action. A good line of country had been mapped out over the properties of Messrs P. Smith, Johnson, M'Donald, and Pryde. Most of the fences were posts and rails or guarded wire, whilst quite a number of jumps had been specially built. The runs were both of a fairly extensive nature, and the second of the day probably made the longest line travelled during the season. One or two falls occurred, but without serious results, whilst one or two Nimrods lent a -little humour to the proceedings by gallant attempts to stick to their saddles. Over 30 followed each run, and amongst those "in at the death," or at least fairly well up with the hounds, were noticed the master (Mr H. 4- Gourley), the hunstman, and his attendant " whip," Messrs J. A. Jordan, W. Allen, A. Slinger, A. Paterson, A. M'Gavin, A. Hastie, .7. Black, R. Mustard. R. Hogg. J. M. Muir, S. Jeffs, Edwards, A. Oudaille, North, J. M'Gill, C. Prout. Curies, L. Stephens, Mrs Conn, and Mrs M'Kay. At the conclusion of the afternoon's 'sport the members of the hunt and a large number of visitors were entertained by Mr Rose Gnnn. Prior to dispersing a vote of thanks was carried, with cheers, to the property-owners providing the run, and also to the gentleman named above, whose hospitality made a pleasant termination to the day. At a general meeting of the Otago Hunt, held at the conclusion of Saturday's lain, it was decided to register under the Unclassified Societies' Act.
