A REMARKABLE CASE.
FATHER PAYS FOR DELINQUENT SON.
AUCKLAND, May 10. An affiliation case presenting unusual features came before Mr Kettle, S.M., in which a young woman made a claim against the father of a young man, who was alleged to be the parent of her child. It was stated that at the end of November last _ the young man had disappeared, leaving no trace. He had been ordered to join the Territorials, and he had told his parents that he intended to leave the Do minion rather than serve. They presumed that this_ was his reason for leaving, as they knew of no other circumstances th.it would cause him to go away. After hearing the evidence the magistrate said he considered that the corroboration of the girl's story was sufficiently strong to warrant, his making an order, though he admitted that the law as it stood seemed unduly hard in making the putative grand-" parents responsible for the sins of thsir prodigal sons. An order was made for 7s 6d a week, together with £5 12s 6d arrears and £7 16s birth expenses.
