The works which the Auckland Plarbour Board has in various stages of completion afford striking evidence of the growth and the importance of the trade which Auckland has with other lands (says the NewZealand Herald). Throughout the length of nearly two miles of water-front there are active operations in progress, designed for the improvement of the port, and there are other works begun, or proposed, in other parts of the Harbour Board's dominion. The average daily attendance at the Carnegie Public Library for the week ended Saturday, May 11, was 588 persona. The Auckland drainage scheme will not be completed until 1915.
