The Ist was one of the coldest days exiK'rienced in Dunedin for some years past. The sky was overcast all day, and rain clouds drifted along the hills. In the southwest quarter heavy black clouds loomed up, and under the impetus of a bitterly cold wind gradually thinned as they reached the town, dispersing themselves in driving sleet. Comparison with April, 1911: Mean temperature for month, 54.91 deg Fahr.; rainfall for month, 3.32 inches; rainfall for year, 7.82 inches. It was a cold and stormv month May 2. Heavy rains are being experienced, and the country is badly flooded. It will be severe on farmers, as threshing is not finished. DIPTON, May 1. The rainfall registered here on April 30 was 33 points. QUEENBTOWN, May 1. The weather for the month of April has

on the whole been very good. Up till the 23rd particularly pleasant weather was experienced, high barometers and bright days being the rule. The latter part of the month was at times very cold, and judging by the amount of snow already fallen on the mountains an early winter may be expected. The total rainfall was 215 points, the maximum fall being 72 points on ulie Bth. The total rainfall for the year to date is -965 points. The lake has fallen 6in during the month. WOODLANDS, May 1. The rainfall registered hero for the 24 'hours ended 9 a.m. on the 30th was 32 points, and on the Ist it was 43 points. The total rainfall for the month was 4.46 inches.
