TABLE TALK.

-• Monday Evening. On Tuesday afternoon, at All Saints’ Church, a very pretty wedding was celebrated, when Miss Hilda Blundell, only daughter of Mr Blundell, Castle street, Dunedin, was married to Mr Wellesley Ka.in, of Southland. The Very Rev. Dean Fitchett performed the wedding ceremony, and Mr Lilly presided at the organ. After the marriage tho guests assembled at Mr Blundell’s house in Castle street, where a most enjoyable breakfast was partaken of. The bride’s gown was composed of rich white satin, which clung gracefully to her elegant figure. It waa made very plainly with a transparent lace yolk; the long flowing train waa caught from the shoulders. The only ornament waa a silver bead chain. She carried a glorious shower bouquet of white flowers and maidenhair fern. Her long tulle veil waa attached to her hair with a wreath of orange blossom. The bride waa attended by four bridesmaids —Miss Coreeu Ogston, Miss Stevenson, Miss Mary Hoaking, and Miss Lovett —two of whom wore pale pink ninon gowns prettily made with swathed! fischus edged with pleated frills. They carried lovely pale heliotrope shower bouquets. The two other bridesmaids wore pale heliotrope ninon gowns made in the same manner, and carried lovely shower bouquets of pale pink awoet peas. They all wore large black velvet hats, with black fur and a large pink rose The bridegroom was supported by his brother as best man. Mr Lawrence (Christchurch), Mr Foster, and Mr Harper were groomsmen. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a beautiful fur lined motor coat, and to the chief bridesmaid a pearl pendant, and the others gold bangles. Later in the day Mr and Mrs Wollesley Kain left by motor for the north. Mr end Mrs Blundell received their guests in the hall. Mrs Blundell was gowned in a rich blue silk veiled in ninon, black hat with blue feathers, and carried a lovely bronze chrysanthemum

bouquet with faded leaves. Delicious tea coffee, cakes, etc., were partaken oi m th< dining room, where the table was prettiN decorated with va&es of sweet peas an 3 maidenhair fern. The stage was very prettily arranged with flowers while in the centre of the hall small tables were placed, at which everyone en* joyed tea and cakes. Mrs Theomin opened the proceedings with an address, in which ,sho indicated the excellent work the Victoria League did in Australia, and how beneficial it was to be a member of the league. Mrs Reynolds then gave a very interesting, and powerful address, pointing to the advantage when in England of being a member of the league. Some present were Mesdames Roberts, Ross, Fergus, T. The game that was played is called "Klondyke," which is a kind of bridge, but played in a progressive manner. Each person received a card drawing for partners, and showing at which table they wore to play. Full instructions had been written on the card, enabling everyone to carry out the game properly. Great fun was caused over "misers," which means that the losers score the opponents' tricks. A large number of guests were present, and play was carried on in three rooms. Mass L. Haggitt scored the highest number of points, Miss M'Lean coming second. Miss Gilkison received her guests in the drawing room, whilst a dainty and delicious supper wr>s partaken of in the dining room, the table being prettily decorated with chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. In the " Dream of Fair Women ' the parts were taken by Mrs W. On Saturday, by the first express to the south, Mr and Mrs Darling left for Dunedin to join the Melbourne boat which connects with tho steamer they intend travelling to England by. Williamson's company opened their season here with a modern morality play entitled "Everywoman. It is quite unlike anything we have seen here before, and one finds it rather difficult to credit it with the popular success that the advertisements would have us believe. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Frances Morrison (sister of the bride) was dressed in champagne silk, veiled with white ninon, the whole being formed over pink silk. Miss Morrison also wore a handsome bangle of pearls anoj peridots, the gift of tho bridegroom, and cairied a bouquet of bronze and cream chrysanthemums. The two assisting bridesmaids were Misses Dorothy Galvin (sister of the bridegroom), and "Bobbie" Burgess (niece of the bride) both being dressed in white shot muslin frocks draped with white fichus and finished with pink ninon. Each wore a gold and pearl bangle, gifts from the bridegroom, and carried bouquets of cream an.' pale pink chrysanthemums. The bride's mother wore black merv, a black and white toque, and a black and white stole; Mrs Galvin was dressed in grey striped ninon, and wore a grey hat with grey and black feathers and a white boa. Mr S. Mitchell was best man, and Mr Bert Galvin, brother of the bridegroom, groomsman. At an interval in the service Mrs Nash sang "0 Salutari3," and Miss M'Cabe played Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." As the bride wag leaving the altar steps she was presented with two floral horseshoes by her little niece, Mis 3 Ella Morrison, and nephew, Master Arthur Morrison. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's mother in Weld street. In the evening Miss F. entertained the guests at a

dance in St. Patrick's Hall. The bride and bridegroom received a handsome collection of presents. Mr and Sirs Galvin left for Picfcon by motor car after the ceremony, en route to the North Island. The bride's travelling dross was a navy serge tailor-made costume and a hat of reseda green tagel straw trimmed with large green wings and velvet. A very pleasant book title afternoon tea was given by Miss Viva Farmer for the Misses Leshe, who shortly leave for Nelson, last Saturday afternoon. First prize was won by Miss Alice Neville for guessing the most Miss Viva Farmer received her guests wearing a pretty white muslin dress trimmed with Valenciennes insertion. The Auckland Amateur Operatic Society have been producing throughout the past week Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera "H M S. Pinafore" at Hie Majesty s Theatre to crowded houses. Their Excellencies, and Lady Islington, with a party from Government Hoase, were present on the opening night. The performance of this well-known opera has been a decided success and the society are to be congratulated on the result.
