BOWLING.

Secretariat are requested to forward part'.culari of ganiai played and of forthcominjj matches.

At a meeting of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association to consider the proposed constitution of the Amalgamated New Zealand Bowling Association, the delegates appeared to be fairly unanimous in the- opinion that the change would be for the benefit of bowling. It was decided to have printed copies and the proposed constitution circulated amongst clubs for consideration, after which the association would hold another meeting to deal with it. Some two or throe years ago an attempt wa 3 irrado, at the instance of Mr W. Waddell, of Oamaru, to get together a team of South Island bowlers to visit Auckland, Napier, Wellington, end other centres in the North Island, playing a series of matches. The number of players who sent in their names as likely to toko part in tho tour proved to bo much too few, and the trip had to be abandoned. From what U stated in the Auckland Observer, it would appear Mr Waddell has again taken the matter up, and will make ©very effort to get a team together next season. If the tour does not take place, it may be taken for granted that it will not be Mr Waddell'e fault.

' For the eleventh time the Armadale Club has won the Victorian Bowling Association's Four-rink A Pennant, just succeeding in the final to defeat Melbourne Club by 2 points. The B Pennant was won by Mentone, and the Rink Pennant by Malver and Caulfield. The increase in the number of clubs competing has led to such an increase in the number of games which must be played before the A Pennant can be won that the association is urged to devise some means of reducing the number of matches. A fine record has been put up by T. A. Williams, of the Ballarat Club. He has won the association championship for the third consecutive year, and for the seventh time his club's championship. He also won tho vice-president's trophy, and, in company with Dr Champion, the pairs tourney. When the Australian bowlers on their way to England visit Devon and play a match at Torquay they will be afforded the opportunity of handling the bowls played with by Sir Francis Drake in the immortal game upon Plymouth Hoe. These woods, which are in the keeping of the Torquay Corporation, are coloured, one pair being green, another red and yellow. The ; "Drake" bowls were played with in a bowling pageant which took place at Plymouth some time ago, and no doubt ap- ; pears to have been raised as to their authenticity. The various competitions for the Milton Club's prizes arc practically completed for tho season. The following is a list of the prizewinners:—Rink Championship—H. H. Wilkinson, P. D. M'Guire, R. Moffat, Geo. Clements; Double handed Tournament —A. j M'Kechnie and W. Moore; Single-handed Championship—John Breck; colt s prize— Geo. Reid. The final for the President's Hani dicap rests between T. G. Henderson and I Thos. Moir. Taken altogether, the season has been highly successful, although play was greatly interfered with by <he broken weather at the commencement.
