TROUBLE AT CHRISTIE'S MINE, GREEN ISLAND.
The trouble at Christie's coal mine at Green Island, which was temporarily settled recently, has been revived, and at present there is a deadlock The trucking road was repaired by the owners, as agreed upon. The men allege that thc-y found the gradient 100 severe. On representations being made to the owners the men were informed that a jig would be put in. but when Mr James Christie, the consulting engineer, returned, ho vetoed the putting in of the jig, as the doing so would sweep away any profit <vt present derived from mining the coal. Aa no agreement, could be arrived at between the representatives of the party, the men •went into the mine on the 7th inst. and removed their tools. The men then placed their case in the hands of the N.Z. Federation of T>abour, and Mr P. Webb, the president of that body, will look into the matter.
