BURGLARS AT WORK.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, April 15: The police received word of a daring burglary at Ikamatua (Grey Valley) some time in the early hours of yesterday morning. The burglars forced the front door of Mr Firank Pitt's store and removed the safe about 50 yards from the premises. They then blew it open and took from it the sum of £43. The noise of the explosion, which was a violent one, was heard by many of the residents, and about 3 o'clock the sound of a trolly was heard on the railway line. Constable O'Grady proceeded to the scene and made a diligent inquiry. He found no clue to the perpetrators of the burglary, but' nearly opposite the brewery at Omotohe be found the trolly thrown oven- the railway embankment. AUCKLAND, April 15. Another burglary was added to Auckland's already long list..on Sunday night, when a house at St. George's Bay road was entered. The house had been used as an office by a drainage contractor, and tlris morning a small safe, which had been placed in one of the rooms, was found in ftn adjoining paddock. The lock was broken and a sum of about £6 was stolen and the papers were scattered over the paddock.
