DUNEDIN DRAINAGE BOARD.

The ordinary fornightly meeting of the Dunodin Drainage Board was held on Thursday night; present—Messrs J. Arkle (chairman), J. Small, W. Farmiharson, J. J. Marlow, J. S. Douglas, and Dr Fulton. CORRESPONDENCE. L. Skinner and others wrote requesting about five chains of drainage in Birohfield avenue North-East Valley.—Referred to the Wiorks' Committee, with power to act. REPORTS. The report of the Finance Committee (already published) was considered and adopted. . Tr e Works Committee s report was also adopted with the exception of the clause recommending tho acceptance of the St. Kilda Borough Council's offer to fill in and then channel the portion of the ditch on tho St. Kilda. sido of Bay View road, between West avenue and Moreati street, this clause being referred back to the committee. GENERAL Attention was drawn to the presence of fever in Clyde street, Mornington, and it was decided that immediate notice should bo served on tile owners of premises in the street to connect with the board's The question of the Kaikorai Valley drainage was brought up. and the chairman explained that the matter was being kept steadily In view. The engineer was away but he had plans and specifications in hand, and they would bo presented in duo course. FINANCE. The following financial statement was submitted by the secretary and referred to the Finance Committee to report:— General Account—The deficiency shown cm the books on the Ist of this month is £BOO. The board formally decided that tins is to be capitalised. Expenditure.—Ono year's interest on £425.000 already borrowed, £18,419; interest on moneys to be raised for broken period, say, £800; interest on value of sewers', £850: sinking fund payment, £500; total', £20.569; general account and l balance of commission due last year, £7431. Grand total, £28,000. Revenue. —Fees from h.e. department, £600; other fees. £250; sundries. interest paid to board, etc., £250; Government contribution for services, £150; rate.'*, £519 384. at lid in the pound, £23,805; rate=' £109.669, at 5W in the pound, £2513; —total, £27,563; (£109,669 includes RoslynKaikorai area); estimated deficiency, £432; Id in tho pound on the sewered area, £2164 £d in the pound on the unswered area, £228 9s Bd. Loan Account Moneys Available.—Loan

moneys on hand on April 1, 1912, £25,432; drainage loan moneys in London, £2000; authorised to borrow, £25,000; to be refunded from house connection and drainage connection, £4sß3;—total, £57,020. Add: To be absorbed for stock this year, £IOOO. Grand total, £58,020. Loss one year's interest on all loans ear-marked to relievo rates. Balance available after paying deficiency for last year, £3454. At the present rate of expenditure all the above moneys will be exhausted in nine months from date. House Connection Account. —Authorised to borrow, £25,000; due 31/31/2 to loan account (£4588); required this year house connection and drainage connection (say, £6000), £10,588> balance, £14,412.
