PARTICULARS OF YORKSHIRES IMPORTED BY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.

Several weeks ago the seven Ayrshire* imported from Scotland by the Agricultural Department arrived at the Moumahaki State Farm, after spending- the compulsory term in quarantine in Wellington. I'he animals wore purchased for the Agricultural Department by Mr Jas. Dunlop, one of tho Scotch Agricultural Commissioners who recently toured the Dominion. All wero born and bred in the county of Ayrshire itself, and were selected on the milking records of their dams. Particulars as fcl»w were supplied by Mr Dunlop concerning each of the animals:—"Tho heifer Farkhead Dewdrop is out of a cow which won the competition at Fenwick this year for the best cow and best milker combined. In this competition 23 of tho best cows in the district were entered. For her appearance she received almost full marks, while her milk yield, after being 18 weeks in milk, was 551 b per day, with a 3.3 per cent, of butter-fat.
