N.Z. PRODUCE IN LONDON.

THE .MEAT MARKET. £Fnoii Our Owh Cobbxsfottoext.) LONDON, March 1. Slight reduction in values of mutton has given a small stimulus to the output of the New Zealand meat, but insufficient to bring business up to normal. The C.C. and D. Company fray that only small carcases are in fair request, and medium and heavyweights are difficult to sell. Canterbury mutton cannot be quoted, and North Island sheep are now down to 3±d to sjd per lb. Ewes are worth 3Jd to 3gd per lb. The demand for good lambs is still limited, and only a few from Canterbury are being placed at prices ranging from si<l to 5Jd per lb. The best North lsla.net lambs have declined in value to 5W P« - lb, and have a downward tendency. The lower grades of North Island sell freely at about 4|d per lb, and.at this figure replace Australians, which are now getting very scarce. New Zealand beef cannot be" quoted. Good qua.lity frozen beef is scarce. DAIRY PRODUCE. For New Zealand and Australian butter the market is slow owing to the saispenso over the miners' strike, and until a definite decision has been taken trade will be carried on upon the smallest amount of stocks possible. Prices have been well maintained in the circumstances, and show that the inherent position is very strong. Messrs Wedde] sav that "choicest" Australia isi making 124 sto 126 s per cwt. with an. occasional shilling more for Eome special brand. "Choicest" New Zealand is sollinjr at 130 s to 131 s. Owing to the short stocks of home-made British cheese there is more inquiry for Canadian and New Zealand. Stocks fiom the former country arc rapidly diminishing, and New Zealand supplies are showing no siam of accumulation, but are pomp straight into consumption on arrival. ' ; Choicest. '* Canadian is making 74s to 76s per cwt for white, and 73s to 74 s for coloured. New Zealand is meeting a readier sale at 6<f advance on the week, white making 72s to 72s 6d. occasionally 73s for a well-matured parcel; coloured brings 71s 6d to 725.
