THE MANCHESTER UNITY.

The monthly meeting of the Loyal Tapanui Lodge was held on Thursday week, Bro. J. M'Cartney, N.G., presiding. A strong committee has in hand the holding of a lodge social in the near future. It is expected that the membership of the lodge will be increased at the next meeting. Despite a Met night, a good attendance of members greeted Bro. Alex. Kilgour, N.G., of the Loyal Alexandra Lodge. The lodge delegates to the annual meeting of the District Committee gave a very satisfactory report of the proceedings, and were accorded a. hearty vote of thanks. Owing to the inability of the Grand Master to attend the lodge P.G. Bro. E. Dabinett was appointed G.M. for the remainder of the term. Invitations were extended to the members and lady friends of the Kaitangata and Dalton lodges to visit the Alexandra Lodge at the next meeting, the evening's entertainment taking the form of a social and dance. During recess the members present indulged in a pleasant game of cards. The meeting of the Loyal Mosgiel Lodge was presided over by N.G. Bro. Findlay. The delegates to the district meeting presented their report, and referred to the enthusiastic welcome accorded to the visiting delegates by the Roxburgh Lodge. The evening's entertainment was in the hands of P.S. Bro. Weir, who had arranged a musical programme of exceptional merit. At the conclusion, Bro. Weir and the brothers who assisted him received a hearty vote of thanks. The lodge voted the sum of £2 to a brother in distress. A good attendance of members greeted N.G. Bro. Forrester at the quarterly and degree meeting of the Loyal Maniototo Lodge on Tuesday evening." A new member was initiated, Bro. Rl'Kone acting as conductor. Lecture-master Bro. Pinder delivered the various decree lectures to the eligible candidates. Per. Sec. Bro. M'Lean, who was appointed delegate, then gave the lodge a good account of the district meeting, and also treated the brothers to a plentiful supply of Roxburgh peaches and apples, which were much appreciated by nil. Votes of thanks were accorded the delegates (Bro. M'Lean and P.G. Bro. George, of the Roxburgh Lodge). Several new members were proposed for initiation. There was a good attendance of members of the Loyal Dalton Lodge (Balclutha) at the meeting held last week. N.G. Bro. Willocks presided. The correspondence received included a hearty invitation from the Alexandra Lodge to attend its next meeting. It was decided to postpone the customary visit to the Kaitangata brethren for a month. One new member was initiated, and proposals for three new members were received. P.P.G.M. Bro. C. J.
