MORMON CONVENTION. PALMERSTON N., April 5. The annual Mormon Convention began at Awapuni, a mile from Palmerston North, yesterday, and 500 Maori members are already assembled, with Pastor Romney as* president, and 57 American elders from Salt Lake City are in attendance. Maori ministers and menVbers are gathered from all parts of New Zealand. The Hon. To Rangihiroa visited the meeting. To-morrow the asse.nYbly will proceed to vote on the election for a president of the Mormon Church, two councillors, and 12 elder.? at Salt Lake (St? simultaneously with the election which takes place at similar conventions in all parts of the world. The convention extends over Master. The Maori adherents number 6000, arid the Mormons are establishing an Agricultural College at a ™»»* of £IO,OOO.
