The Pall Mall Magazine for March will be regarded by many readers a* even more interesting than usual, because of the more solid fare offered. Lady Ritchie (nee Thackeray) opens with an article on ■• Charles Dickens as I Remember Him." Mr Oakley Williams follows with some particulars concerning Mr Speaker's splendid state coach, the origin and career of which are wrapped in mystery. Mr James Slilne, on the authority of the author, tells "The True Story of Runty Pulls the Strings," the play which has made such <i hit In London. "Mr H. Fletcher writes of "London's Hidden Cathtedrai" —namely, that of Southwark, the. location of which even some Tjondom cabmen a*ro ignorant of. " A Story of Life in India." " The Technical Education of Kings.'] an.l " Persepolisi An Account of a Visit to the Capital of Persia" are among other general articles. " Chu-e.hu, the .Shaver," is continued, and there is an amusing 6tudy of the anatomy of " The Noble House." Original short poems and short stories, in addition to the four complete tales in the Story Rook, with
something about the fashions, make up a capital number, in which most of the articles are artistically illustrated. An attractive little play for three girls, entitled " Ghost Stories/' by Margaret Threlfall, is one of the features of the Girls' Realm for February, to hand from Air J. Braithwaite. Other attractions are an article on stencilling-, and another on making Irish crochet lace, besides the usual dress and fashion articles, health notes, hints to housekeepers, etc., etc. There are short stones by Edith Basford, Dorothy Averill, G. R. Evelyn, and L. Elliott, and a further instalment of the serial story " Sister-in-Oluef," by Dorothy A'Beckett Turell. The Storyteller for March* received from Mr J. Braithwaite, has the usual supply of short stories by such- writers as Louis Tracy* William Le Queux, May Ed gin ton, Captain h. 11. Shaw, Max Pemberton, and others. There is also a complete novel, "Penitence Island," by Andrew Sou tar.
