TABLE TALK.

A very pretty wedding was solemnised on Monday. 26t.h February. at St. John's Cliurch. Roslyn, when Miss Ailsa Vallange, second daughter of Mrs Vallanee. “To Ko<i,” Littlebourne. was married to Mr John Dunlop. youngest son of the late Dr Dunlop, of Dunedin. the officialiny clergyman heirur the Rev. W. R. Fitchett. The bride entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr Percy Vallange. and looked exceedingly pretty in n verv charming gown of ivory satin witfli hand-embroidered applique work and lace, court train, with large true lovers’ knot in one corner. Her tulle veil was handsomely embroidered, and was caught on to her hair with a dainty spray of orange blossom. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Her only ornaments were pearl earrings and a pearl necklace, the gift of tho bridegroom. She was attended by three bridesmaids, her sister and her two cousins Miss Gillie and Miss Huia Sargood. Miss Vallange wore a pretty pale pink ninon over pink satin, heavily trimmed with lace and lace overdress, end a large pink silk lint to match. She carried

« shower bouquet of paje pink sweet peas, and maidenhair fern. The Missea Sargood wore very pretty frocks of rale bin* ninon over satin, trimmed with silver, and mushroom hats of blue silk trimmed witft lace, and carried large pink carnation and sweet pc.i bouquets. They all wore pretty pear! brooches, the gift of the bridegroom. The. bridegroom was attended by Mr "W, Petre as best man and Mr Rolfe Sargood (cousin of the bride) as groomsman. After the ceremony the bridal party ond guests adjourned to "Te Koa." where a large marquee had been erected on the lawn, and all drank the health of the happy couple, and wished them good luck in their future life together. Later in the afternoon the happy couple left amid showers of rose petals for Warrington, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The numerous and bea-utiiul wedding presents were on view in the drawing room. Mrs Valkmge, who received her guests at the entrance to the marquee, was gowned in a charming cornflower blue bengaline, trimmed with darker sshade of satin and lace yoke, soft blue toque to match, ospreys, lovely shower bouquet of. cornflowers and maidenhair fern. On Tuesday afternoon Miss Violet MTntosh (eldest daughter of Mr M" Intosh, of the National Bunk, Dunedin) was married at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Dunedin, to Mr John E'-cn, r-eond son of Mrs Ewen, “Glenesk," Roslyn. Pune* tually as the clock chimed the hour thf bride entered the church on the arm of her father, looking charming in a beautifullyfitting white Liberty satin, trimmed witf real lace and crystal trimming. Her lovely Limerick veil was caught on to her haii by a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a glorious shower bouquet of white carnations and maidenhair fern. She was attended bv her three sisters. Little Miss h k ru M latosh, who walked into the church inlinecliatcly behind the bride, wore a dainty little white silk frcck trimmed with lace, white lace and chiffon hot. The two elder bridesmaids wore pretty pule blue charmeuse satin, gown veiled in pale blue hinon and made with frilled ninon fichus edged with crystal trimming and fastened at the waist with two large pink roses. Their hats were pale blue clotb lined with grey velvet and trimmed with lace wings edged with grey squirrel fur. Thev carried beautiful pale pink shower bouquets, and wore lovely gold bracelet watches, the gift W the bridegroom. Mrs Ev.en was attended by bis brother as oest man and Mr Frank Bc.rron as groomsman. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Venerable Archdeacon Gould. The guests afterwards adjourned to 't/Jene*k ” where B o usual toasts and good wishes were given. The bridal couple received in the null under a beautiful marriage bell composed of white flowers. The wedding breakfast win partaken of in a l»re» marquee on the lawn. It was arranged with one Ion" table end many smaller ones, all of which were beautifully decorated with vases of white flowers and maidenhair fern. the entire marquee was draped with while and paie green Liberty muslin. Jhe beautiful presents were on view in the dining room. A band played in the garden during the ofternoon, and as the day was all that cou.d bo desired the music was much enjoyed. Later on in the day Mr and Mrs John Ewen left by motor for the south, and then lor Australia, where their honeymoon is to be spent. Mrs John Ewen’s going away drcee wis a smart biscuit-coloured satin cloth, prettily trimmed with Oriental trimming, large biscuit-coloured hat with long ostrich plumes of the same tone. Or* Wednesday evening Miss Ethel Irving and her company opened at His Majesty's Theatre to a crowded and most enthusiastic house. Miss Irving, as La.ly Frederick, wears several pretty gowns. The first of these was a turquoise blue velvet veiled in ninon, and trimmed with a touch of purple satin and edged with fur, large purple hat with flowers. Her next gown was an old rose satin made with a long train, and trimmed with most beautiful lace embroidered in pink and gold. In the final act she looked charming in *i beautifully fitting lace gown made with a short laoo coat edged with bright rose pink satin. OAMARU, March 4. ' The Waitaki Boys’ High Sclioo! boys liave |,een waiting for Rome weeks for a fine Thursday to hold their annual swimming sports. They were more tiian lucky in choosing last Thursday, which turned out an ideal day, beautifully warm, and I think the oni lookers would gladly have joined the ewim- ’ mers. The events were all well contested, and there were some verv interesting and exo’ting finishes. Among those present were Dr and Mrs M'Adam, Mr and Mrs Preston, Mrs Borton.
