CHRISTCHURCH INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
CHRISTCHURCH, October 11. The executive of the Industrial Exhibition has decided that the exhibition is to be opened at noon on the 26th inst. The speakers are to be the president of the Exhibition Committee, the president of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council, and the official representative of the Government, who will declare the exhibition open. A luncheon is to be held afterwards, at which the speakers will be the presidents of the Trades Council, Industrial Association, Employers' Association, Bishop Julius, Bishop Grimes, the moderator of the Presbyterian Church, representatives of other religious denominations, and representative public men. For the various competitions in connection with the exhibition entries are being received in very large numbers. The Space Committee allotted what it considered at the time ample space for the _ display of articles entered for competition, but the very numerous entries received to date seems to indicate that tho space will be wholly inadequate, and the Competitions Committee is somewhat concerned to find accommodation for the exhibits, not only in the fancy and needle work, but also in the skilled trade classes.
