A MINER'S MONEY.
DISAPPEARS WITH CELERITY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, October 10. Mr M'Cann, of M'Cann and party, went to Westport with three months' gold obtained * from the party's sluicing claim at Addison's. He obtained from the bank in return for the gold £B7, and went over to a hotel where he spent most of the afternoon. He showed the bag with the money to some men, who, it is alleged, induced him to go into a room, and presently. Mr M'Cann found he was minus the bag and the whole of its valuable contents. Whether it was taken while he was in the passage or when he" went into the side-room Mr M'Cann could not say, as he did not know exactly when it became missing. The police were informed of the matter, but so far have not obtained sufficient evidence to justify them in making an arrest. The loss to M'Cann and party is a very severe one, as they have only recently finished a lot of "dead" work, and were requiring the money to meet the liabilities thai naturally accumulate during such times.
