HEALTH OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
The monthly meeting of the Society for the Health of Women -and Children was held in the Town Hall on Friday morning There were present—Mesdames King (in the chair), Joachim, S. Allen, M'George, Carr, Loudon,* Jackson, Harris, J. Allen, Ross, Theomin, Edmond, and Misses Beswick and Gow. The new matron (Mias Nelson), who took up her duties at the hospital in September, reported that the number of babies admitted was 9; discharged, 8; remaining in hospital, 12, including one mother and her baby. The Plunket nurses reported that the number of babies on the list was 289. There had been paid 446 visits, and the number of mothers' visits to the office was 100. There had been 33 new cases for the month. There was an increase of 730 bottles of humanised milk sent out by the T. and P. Company during the month, comparing with August, showing an increase of 1731 bottles as compared with the same month of 1910. Maintenance money received during the month amounted to £l6 14s.
