HOMING NOTES.

.The Dunedin Club’s race from Timaru last Saturday was flown under ideal weather conditions, the birds having a light breeze in their favour os they neared home. Sixteen lofts were represented, including two new members. , The birds were liberated by Mr Williams, of Timaru, at five-minute intervals- Mr A. E. Hunt’s mealy hen Miss Ideal won with ; a good lead, covering the distance in 2hr j smin, a velocity of per minute.
Mr A. Hutchins's Cisco timed in second, in 2ihr lOmrfn, a velocity of 1464yds per minute. P. Clark's Lady Baldwin secured third place, time 2hr 12imin, a velocity of 1443|yds per minute. Mr G. Jackson's True Blue, was fourth, time 2hr 14mm, a velocity of 1422fyds per minute. Mr Niven's Red Cap' . was fifth, time 2hr 12|min, a velocity of 1408yds per minute. This bird's flying distance was a littQo over two miles shorter than that of the other birds. Miss Ideal, the winner, is a nice-looking mealy, and is by idealist from Killarney, a pair of Mr Hunt's best stock birds. . The race next Saturday will .be flown from Amberley. This will be a flock race, the winner to "leoeive the id resident's (Mr D. Paterson) gold medal. This should be one of the biggest races of the season. I must remind members of having their entries in early. "•
