WANGANUI races. Fibst Day—Thursday. September-28. The Wanganui Jockey Club's spring meeting was opened to-day in fine though rather cold weather, and there was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £13,740, as against £8378 on the corresponding day last year. Results:— FLYING HANDICAP, Of 150sovs. Six furlonpps. Mr J. From a good start Boanerges was the first to show in front, followed by Faunus, with True Shot on the rails. Boanerges led round the bend; being half a length ahead of Faunus, with True Shot and St. Toney handy. As they turned into the straight Boanerges, Faunus, and Master Sylvia were prottv well bunched. At the distance Merrie Frank took the lead, and looked 1 all over a winner, but Master Sylvia came with a rattle over the last hundred yards and just got the veixlict on the post by a . head, with Boanerges half a length away third.
