The Dominion reported on the 18th that the victim of the recent hooligan outrage at Petone, Area Sergeant-major Millet*, who was removed to a private hospital suffering from incipient blocd-poisoning, resulting, it is alleged, from a blow on the breast with some sharp instrument, was progressing less favourably than was expected. Certain symptoms had developed since his admission to the private hospital which had necessitated a surgical operation. This was performed upon the patient on Thursday, and at the latest reports he was not getting on as well as it was at first hoped. The case of Simpson and Hait against the Standard Insurance Company, in which £4OO was claimed on a fire insurance policy; has been settled.
