A printer’s error was responsible for a country storekeeper in the North Island being inundated with orders for butter* some coming from as far off as Wellington. A well-known brand of butter was advertised at Is, when it was being retailed in Wellington at Is sd. There was no doubt about the advertisement attracting attention this time. The storekeeper concerned had matters put right at once as soon asthe mistake was discovered, but orders continued to pour in at the same time. They woro not supplied at Is per lb, however. Warings, of London, have received from Turkey a wonderful carpet, manufactured for a peer, which was copied from the seventeenth century Persian example in the South Kensington Museum. It contains 22,500,000 stitches, and took 18 months to make. The “Young Australia ’’ League boys, to the number of 4-2, who are leaving shortly on a trip to America, will arrive' in Wellington from Sydney on the 23rd inst. They have their own full braes band, and will give concerts on their tour in America.
