AN IMPORTANT SCHEME
SYDNEY, May 24
The Royal Commission on Decentralisation recommends that Port Stephens and Jervis Bay be opened up for oversea shipping, in order to make the ports effective as a decentralisation factor, with extensive cross-country railways connecting them. It is also recommended to link up the New South Wales and Victorian railways at Tocumwall and Mulwala, in the Riverina. This will probably divert the grain and wool traffic to Melbourne. The connection of Broken Hill and Condobolin is another recommendation.
