CITIZENS' LEAGUE.

WELLINGTON, May 29. Mr C. P. Skerrett, K.C., was elected president, at the general meeting to-night, of the newly-formed Citizens' League. A policy was agreed to as follows: —To closely watch all social movements and propaganda, and beep fully informed thereof; to take all steps within its power to insure that laws and regulations shall be formulated, executed, and administrated by moderate and honourable citizens, and to oppose the election or appointment of unsuitable persons to any office; in particular to oppose any reduction in the three-fifths majority in connection with national or local option; to oppose any attempt to abolish the sale of liquor altogether ; to suppost all reasonable regulation of the liquor traffic; to oppose any further restriction on reasonable gaming by adults, and to oppose any restriction on the enjoyment by individuals of reasonable recreation on Sunday.
