A GALLANT LAD.
TRAGEDY NARROWLY AVERTED. WELLINGTON, May 15. Three boys—Cecil Ellison (15) William Curlew (14), and Alfred Hart (14)— were capsized in the harbour at 7 p.m. y es terdav, when they were retiring from Day’s Bay in a 12ft scow. When they were about half a mile from the boat harbour a sudden squall capsized the boat. Ellison got his companions on to the bottom of the capsized craft, and then started to swim to the shore. In the meantime the notice of tjia harbour officials Was attracted by calls from the boat, and the two lads were picked up. 'A search was then made Jpr Ellison, who, though severely handicapped by knickers and a sweater, gamely struggled oh for assistance. He was _ picked pp latey suffering from cramp. His brave-action is to be brought under the Humana (■■Society’s notice.
