THE REFERENDA
LONDON, May 8
Many London pressmen interviewed Mr M'Gowen, the New South Wales Premier, who assured them that the result of the referenda was not a slap in the face for the Federal or the State Government. He Av.as confident that if there were another election either for the Commonwealth or the State the Labour Government would be returned. In his opinion the result of the referenda was largely due to the jeople's caution in desiring to understand more thoroughly the (questions involved before making a change. SYDNEY, May 12.
The voting in New South Wales for the Referenda was 41 per cent, of the number on the roll, which was the lowest of any State. In Victoria it was 59.1, the highest of all.

The final figures for Victoria in connection with the proposals decided by the referenda on Ap,ril 26 show that the voting on the question of legislative powers was as follows :—Yes, 170,288; no, 270,390. The voting on the question of giving power to deal with monopolies was :—Yes, 171,453; no, 268,743.
ADELAIDE, May 15
The final referenda figures for South Australia show a majority of over 30,000 " Noes " on both issues.
