There was a rather larger attendance at the weekly sale of stock at Addingtoh to-day than at the previous sale, but the actual number of buyers operating seemed to be about the same as ait the previous week's market. There was a big yarding of sheep of all descriptions, both stores and fat sheep and lambs being well represented. In the store section the rajngo of quality was very varied, and a large proportion were rather indifferent. The attention paid to the cattle and pig pens was rather more pronounced than at recent sales, and both classes of stock were in good supply. The yarding of store sheep was heavy, although not so big as at the previous week's sale. The quality generally compared unfavourably, and the demand was decidedly weaker. Any good sorts were popular and quitted well. A large proportion of the entry consisted of ewes of all descriptions. The entry of lambs was smaller, and no special lots were prominent for quality. The wethers were also medium. The sale was not very lively throughout, and passings were numerous. Good forward wethers made lis to 12s, medium 8s 6d to 9s 6d, medium halfbreds 7s 6d to 8s 6d. Forward lambs realised 8s to 9s, medium 7s bo 7s 6d, poorer sorts 5s 9d to 6s &d, and oulls 3s upwards. Best -two-tooth ewes made 13s to 14s, up to 15s for a speciallygood lot. Four and six-tooth owes 12s to 14s, mixed and indifferent sorts 10s 6d to lis 6d, over-sea sheep 7s 6d to 8s &d, mixed lines 4s to 6s : and gummies 2s to 3s 6d. One good lot of, ewes was withdrawn at 13s lOd. The yarding of fat sheep was a full one, and the supply was eqmal to requirements. The sale opened orr a par with late markets, but became more animated at the close, but there was no quotable advance. The quality of the pennings was satisfactory, and included a number of very nice lines of wethers and ewes. The range of prices was: —Prime wethers 15s 6d to 17s 6d, others lis 6d to 15s, unfinished 6s 3d upwards, prime ewes 12s 6d to 15s Id, medium 9s to 12s, aged and light 4s 6d to 5s 6d, merino ewes 5s 3d. Compared with the entry at last week's market, there was a fair drop in the number of fat lambs penned. At the previous sale there were 8624 head entered, but 7294 were all that oame in to-day. In point of quality, however, the entries in the latter market were generally very much better. A few unfinished lines were inevitable, but the bulk were very nice lambs, and in consequence the demand showed a brisker tendency. In fact, amything at all reasonable was quitted fairly easily at satisfactory figiures. Exporters secured 6390 at prices ranging from 9s to 14s lOd, and two very extra pens sold at 16s 5d and 18s 3d. The average price is estimated at. lis 6d to 13s 6d. Considering: the extra quality of the lambs penned, the prices generally remain on a par with late rates, ulthough the range is actually greater. Butchers took about 447 head at 10s 2d to 14s, and 457 were passed in—a great improvement on last week. The yarding of fat cattle was somewhat smaller than at the previous week's sale, the figures being. 259 and 372 respectively. The quality of the cattle penned was on the whole slightly better, and prices were a little higher. No actual rise in prices can, however, bo quoted when the quality of the yarding is taken into consideration. There was a slight improvement in the demand, though the buyers did net show

very great keenness to secure supplies. Steers realised £8 to £ll 15s, heifers £5 17s 6d to £9 17s 6d, cows £5 to £8 Ps od. Best steer beef brought 24s to 28s, medium 21s 6d to 23s 6d, and cow and inferior beef 18s 6d to 21s per 1001 b. A fair yarding of vealcrs met with the usual demand. Prices ran from 4s 6d for small immature sorts, to £2 10s for wellgrown specimens. Extra quality went up to £3. There was a small yarding of store ctttle, chiefly old and indifferent cows. TheTO ■were few buyers present. Prices were as follow:—Fifteen to 18 months, £2 3s to £2 9a 6d; two and a-half year steers, £4; and dry cows, £1 to £4 7s 6d. A fair yarding of "dairy cows met with keen competition, prices ranging from £3 10s to £lO 15s. There was a fair entry of fat pigs, and the demand for best kinds showed an improvement, but buyers lacked keenness. Unfinished sorts were neglected. Choppers realised to £4, heavy baconers 35s to 47s 6d, this price equalling 5d per lb. Best classes of porkers brought 28s to 32s 6d, lighter 23s to 27s (equal to to 4gd per lb). The demand for store pigs was poor, and sales were difficult to make. Larger stores made 16s to 19s, lighter 8s to 15s, and woanore 3b to 5s 6d. LIVE STOCK MARKET. Burnside, Wednesday, March 29. Fat Cattle.—A medium yarding, 137 being- penned, the quality being only medium. Prices, on account of the medium yarding, showed an advance of 10s per head. The sale was very erratic.
