GOVERNMENT TRAINING SHIP.
SCARLET FEVER ON BOARD. AUCKLAND, February 27. The Government training ship Amokura, which left Auckland on Wednesday last on a trip to the Kermadecs, returned to-day, and Anchored in the stream at 3.30 o'clock. There was a mild outbreak of scarletina on the vessel while she was at Auckland, and this caused her departure for the Islands to be delayed for some days. The reason for the vessel's return is that there has been a recurrence of the epidemic among the boys, about four of them being laid up at present. The outbreak is not likely to have serious results. In order that ail precautions might be taken to prevent the spread of the fever the District Health Officer paid a visit of inspection to the Amokura to-night. The vessel's departure will again be delayed for some daye.
