TAIERI LICENSING COMMITTEE.

: The annual meeting of the Taieri Licensing Committee was held at Mosgiel on the Ist. The members, present were— Messrs H. Y. Widdowson. S.M. (chairman). Dr Cattan, D. T. Shand, D. Boggan, White Horse hotel, Henley; Michael O'fialloran, Green Island hotel, Green Island; John Francis Knott, Railway hotel, Mosgiel; Edward Townsend, hotel, Outram. PUBLICANS' LICENSES. • New publicans' licenses were granted to Adelaide May Smcothy, Bridge hotel. Waipori; Elizabeth Lynch (Mr 'Crisp) Otago Central hotel. Hyde; Wm. M'Corkindale, Strath-Taieri hotel, Middlemarch; Eliza. Williams, Railway hotel, Middlemarch; Samuel Alexander Lyttle, Outram hotel, Outram.. TRANSFERS. Alfred Quelch, trustee of late Mrs O'Kane, to Jas. Matheson (Mr Calvert) : Mosgiel hotel, Mosgiel. ACCOMMODATION LICENSES. Alexander M'Donald, Clark's Junction j hotei; Jas. Borthwick, Lee Stream hotel, transferred from Beatrice Magorian. The Chairman, in view of some informalities in a few applications, advised licensees to make themselves acquainted ■ with the provisions of the act, and cau- I tioned those to whom new licenses had been granted to take notice of those who , might be considered undesirable residents, ; so that they might not be improperly sup- ' plied with liquor. Ho further instructed j the police to see that all the fire escapes attached to the hotels were kept in a proper state of repair and efficiency.
