The diamond drill at Orepuki has pierced to a depth of 38ft. Progress is much imtaeded by loose granite boulders, which tax Mr Carter's resourcefulness in removing the obstructions. The machinery is (says the Advocate) working perfectly, and will give a good account of itself when more eolid country is reached. The United States Bureau of Manufacturers h?,s been inquiring into industrial conditions in London, ad its agent reports that the taxi-cab drivers msde from £3 to £4 a week.
