put into operation on or about October 20 of this year." The motion was carried by a substantial majority. The remaining clauses were then considered seriatim, and adopted. Clau6e 4was altered to read: "Each factory to have the right to fix its reserve price up to one hour before advertised time of auction; or, if for sale by private treaty or consignment, the reserve may be fixed at any time prior to such sale." In clause 11 the commission is not to exceed 3 per cent. Under clause 15 the sales at first are to take place monthly in Dunedin or Invereargill. Clause 20 now reads: " The committee and secretary shall advise factories as to a reasonable limit." Clause 23 was amended as follows: "The agents appointed in London will send cables from time to time to the association as to the prices and prospects, and these will be repeated as confidential telegrams to the factories whose subscriptions are paid." Mr Arnott moved, and Mr Schmidt seconded—" That the scheme as amended be adopted." The Chairman said that only delegates could vote on the motion, which, on being put, was largely supported, only one hand being raised against it. The Chairman: The scheme, as amended, is carried, and will be put into force during the coming season. MOTIONS. Mr Aitken moved, and Mr Major seconded—" That the nomination of candidates for office in executive of the South Island Dairy Association shall be lodged with the secretary of the association not later than one- calendar month orior to the annual meeting, and a list of all candidates bo nominated shall be sent to each subscribing member within 14 days of each, annual meetin.sr." —After a discussion the motion was withdrawn. Mr 1/umsdf.n moved, and Mr Rondall seconded —"That it be a recommendation: to the directors that the maximum contribution' to be levied from any factory be £25 and the minimum £2."—A discussion, followed, and the motion was carried.
