DEFENCE OF AUSTRIA
VIENNA, June 1. Senor Bilniski, Austrian Minister of finance, speaking in the Reichsrath, announced a reduction in the term of military service by increasing the number of recruits. The increase in the'expenditure, will be £3,750.000 annually. The building of Dreadnoughts will cost £12,000,000. Senor Bilinski added that it would be disastrous if the new expenditure was not met by increased taxation, as it would be impossible to continue raising loans for such purposes. The Austrian precs comments show that the naval programme is aimed against Italy.
