SALE OF WORK.
A very successful sale of work was held in Kirkland Hall, Green Island, on the 18th, 19th, and 21st May. The purpose fcr which the sale was held was to raise funds to build a Presbyterian Church at the Cattle-yards end of the district, and the response made far exceeded the expectations of the ipromoters. When the sale closed fully £146 had been drawn. The sale was opened by Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., in a short but very appropriate address. Mr John Blair, of Abbotsford, in an addiress that was reminiscent of early days in the Kaikorai Valley, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Sidey. It was interesting to see or.a who had represented Caversham in the days of the Provincial Council and the present member on the same platform. The stalls were tastefully arranged and well stocked with goods. Various musical items, as well as recitations, dialogues, etc., were given by Mr and Miss Nye, the school children (trained by Miss M. Mills), the Mornington Y.W.B.C, and the choir, undor Mr Mirams. The following is a list of the stallholders: — No. 1 Work Stall.—Mrs Kilnatrick, Mrs Dr Will, Mrs R. Thompson, Miss Ethel Smellie.
