A CHINESE QUARREL.

Jim Wong Sing has been arrested on a charge of seriously assaulting Young Xee in Haining street. It is said that the trouble 'arose through jealousy. A white woman, who had been living with Sing, went out in a motor car with Kee, and on their return Sing got very angry, and felled Kee to the ground with an iron bar. Kee, who appeared to be badly hurt was taken to the hospital. WELLINGTON. April 30. A Chinese named Jim Wong Sing appeared at the Police Court to-day to answer a charge of assaulting Young Kee in the Chinese quarter of the town last night. Sub-inspector Norwood said Kee

was not in a fit state to appear. He had just returned from a drive in a taxicab with a lady companion, when Singstruck him on the head with an iron bar, inflicting a severe wound. When bail was asked for the police urged that it should be substantial, as Kee had refused to stay at the hospital, and had gone home. Bail was granted on a personal bond of £BO and two surities of £4O each. Sing was remanded for a week.
