CHINESE SEAMEN
LONDON, April 29. Mr Buxton, in receiving a deputation from the National Sailors' and Firemen's Union, said he desired to lessen the number of Chinese in British ships, and he promised to increase the severity of the language test. He also proposed to publish notices in all ports that Chinese lascars were entitled to claim compensation in case of accident.
