ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE BRIGADE.

The Superintendent (Mr John Wood) oresided over the usual 'ortnightly meeting: of the brieade'. Three new members were elected. _ The secretary (Mr Breen) gave an interesting: account of the work bedmg done by the brigade's travelling representative anions- the outlying sawmills of Southland. Already eight classes for practical first aid instruction had been instituted. It was gratifying to know that, the sawmill hands were keen students. There appeared to be ample scope for first aid instruction as accidents were of almost daily occurrence. The delays due to difficulty of transport made practical first aid treatment most necessary, and already the work of pupils had received high praise from medical men in the vicinity. The brigade members then devoted an hour to a practical demonstration of methods employed in treatment of football accidents. The third officer (Mr Hanson) took chmrge, and pave roetmbere some valuable information of a practical nature.
