Defendant denied that he was playing. He was only looking on. "Ifl am stand!- | ing within 20 yards of the ring the police ' take me," said the defendant. A fine of -£5 with costs was inflicted. When asked as to his finances, the defendant replied that he had no money and no friends. The alternative was fixed at 14 days' imprisonment.
