GISBORNE, April 22.
Giving judgment in the case Police v. Robertson, a charge of street beeting, the magistrate (Mr -Barton), - referring to the points raised for the defence, said it was clear that the defendant had no right to Jthe option of being tried by a jury, and shat' it was unnecessary to prove that the defendant had used the street oh more 4.harf one occasion. He was . fined £2O, in default . two months' imprisonment.
