THEFTS FROM A CATHEDRAL
ST. PETERSBURG, April 21. A diamond ornament valued at £20,000 has been stolen from a famous ikon of the Virgin, and £BOOO worth of other gems from the Uspenski Cathedral in the Kremlin at Moscow. April 22. There have been further thefts from the Uspenski Cathedral of 642 stones, in--cluding a magnifirenf, diamond necklace. April 23. The State jewels which were stolen from the Uspenski Cathedral have been recovered through the thief, a peasant named Femin, indicating their whereabouts. April 24. Femin was discovered inside the cathedral, despite the fact that the building •had been thoroughly searched previously. After a eea,rch which lasted 36 hours the jewels were discovered hidden in a tomb.
