WAITAHUNA PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The annual soiree was held in the Waitahuna Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, 17th inst. The Rev. J. S. Ponder presided. The Deacons' Court report contained, among other things, a reference to the kindly feeling existing between the congregation and its minister. Mr R. M'Caw (session elerk) submitted the session report,.and Mr Garden (hon. treasurer) his yearly balance sheet. In his report he said the church-door collections for the year constituted a record in the history of the church, the liberality of the congregation being further manifested in its. contributions to missions and other schemes in connection with the church, which totalled some £SO. These were made up as follows:—Day Spring (the Sabbath School children's special fund), £3 12s; P.W.M.U. Maori Mission, £s;' Indian Mission, £2 10s ;. New. Hebrides, £2 10s ; Training Institute, £2 10s, Waitahuna Girl's Guild, Maori Mission, Sistec Alison*, £6 10s; and Dunedin Orphanage, £5 10s ; church extension, £2 4s lid; Assembly's .collection c or foreign missions, £7 6s; Assembly expenses, £3; aged and infirm ministers' fund, £3 10s; Knox College, £1; youth of the chureh fund, £1 12s ; and the congregation's .special collection for the Dunedin Orphanage amounting to £3 I2s. The total receipts for the year were £356 15s lid, and . the disbwrsaments £343 14s Bd, leaving, after providing for trust moneys, an available balance of £5 15s 2d. The Treasurer, in speaking to the .notion- that the balance sheet be received and adopted, expressed the ophion that the congregation was both liberal and loyal. The speakers or the evening were tne Revs. J. Chisholm and S. W. Currie, Mr Chisholm taking for the subject of his address "The Essentials of Life." and Mr Currie "Loyalty." Several anthems were rendered during the evening- -by the choir under The leadership of Mr Patrick, Miss V. Patrick presiding at the organ.' Solos were also given by Miss> Jean M'Kenzic, Miss Roee Patrick, and Messrs Wurr and Robertson. The usual •votes of thanks being accorded, a very pleasant, successful, and profitable ..neeting was closed by the pronouncing of the benediction.
